New artists - Kostis Spyrou - performer and dancer
Surprisingly we came across a dance video by the dancer and performer Kostis Spyrou. Writing about dancing can be challenging especially when such an artist, who inspires to put movement into words.
The structure of the improvisation is strong, while intriguing, from the beginning till the end. Dynamic and slow movements are combined in a captivating way that is Shape-Shifting and Transference.
Kostis Spyrou is able to make separate parts of his body seem to move as if they are independent of one another. He can hold attention as easily with a waggling toe as he can with flurries of arm and torso movements.
After a small interview with Kostis, we learn that he is interested in exploring and learning new forms of dance, in order to master the different dynamics and qualities of movement. Lately he is studying the meaning of performance as a medium of movement.
